Nothing like a bunch of girls out on a wild night of Rogers and Hammerstein. Does one ever get tired of "There is Nothing Like a Dame"? I think not. And we got to have boar for dinner! (Aren't you impressed that I didn't say it was "boaring" ?- badump bump)
My sister and my oldest niece were in town, and we did some beaching, which is what those land locked people like to do here. But before one can really enjoy a west coast beach, you need to send the geese on their way. They aren't chased away easily, but we won.
Free to find crabs and clams and other mixed sea creatures. The tide was in so we didn't get to traumatize any sea stars or sand dollars or urchins.
It's like an eye spy game...can you find...snails? mussels? seaweed? barnacles? oyster shell?
Our big news...Jamie and I took out belaying tests. We have discovered indoor rock climbing, and Nanaimo has a great gym. We took a belaying course, and can now belay. I won't tell you we had to take the test twice (apparently we had sloppy technique) because that would just be embarrassing. Next time you're in Nanaimo, come for a climb! I'm hoping that rock climbing is going to be the answer to any possible future (certainly not present) arm flab issues that may arise. Now it's back to work, looking forward to the upcoming long weekend. My next goal? Updating my header. All in good time, right now I need a popsicle.

Did you sing any showtunes while you where scrambling up that rockface? Just wondering...
I've never had to chase geese off a beach before. Well, I'll be...
I've never been to the rock climbing place before - my daughter has though, and loved it.
That's pretty brave chasing the geese. They can turn on you and get quite nasty...
i'd rather skydive than rock climb...is that weird?
Oh...I am so homesick for the Island after reading/looking at this post...
Rock climbing....hmm, maybe when I was younger. (But probably not!) Love the beach, though! Always have, always will. Sounds like you are having a very fulfilling summer.
That does sound like a fun day . . . except for the belaying. The thought of hanging off a cliff makes my hands sweat. For the arm flab, future of course, I'll do pushups. Otherwise, I'd have had a blast. :>)
I lived on Van Island for years, now have lived in Okanagan 12 years. Still torn between here and there! Where is the lotto win so I can have a home in both places! Loved your pics.I can almost smell the ocean. A very new blogger!
well done on the rock climbing, rather you than me!
I could never do rock climbing; I'm very scared of heights. I'd be able to get up a ways, but would never be able to get back down. Hello, fire department.
Miss you. I catch your pix now and then on flickr. Hope all is well.
That all looked terrific. Now where have you disappeared to?
